Verified ClientHired Attorney 2015-2019Want to recommend Irena Shut for all your Employment needs. She has been a great resource for my company. She has done an employee manual and always keeps us apprised of the new laws in California. I have hired her for unemployment appeals as well. She is super easy to speak with and very easy to get a hold of. Irena Shut is my go to for all my employer needs. Highly recommend.

Verified ClientHired Attorney 2011-2015I just had to come and write a review for Irena Shut. I have so much to say but not sure how much space I have here. But let me start by saying this is an individual who is selfless. She has the biggest heart. I am unsure how I could have made it through a very difficult experience that occurred in my life. A situation that would scare the daylights out of a regular guy. I don’t want to exactly air my dirty Landry here but without giving details IRena Shut saved my life! I really don’t know where I would be today with her. She is an amazing human being. She has a great family and would literally do anything to help a person out. I wish I could say more but I don’t think I have to. If you have the golden opportunity to ever meet her or obtain her services you can see for yourself.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
