Overview
Care was appointed as a county court judge in Boulder in 1995 and served in that capacity for fifteen years. Before that she was a traffic magistrate for one year and a deputy district attorney for seven years.
As a judge, Care presided over hundreds of hearings and jury trials. Her cases included DUIs, traffic offenses, misdemeanors and felony preliminary hearings. Her civil cases included protection order cases, landlord/tenant cases, and other civil disputes. As a magistrate, Care presided over primarily traffic and misdemeanor cases but also rotated as a domestic relations magistrate. As a district attorney, Care prosecuted misdemeanor offenses, juvenile petitions and felony cases.
Care's practice includes both criminal and family law cases. She handles DUIs and misdemeanor, juvenile and felony cases. In domestic relations cases (divorce) Care handles cases from the initial filing to any post-decree matters.
Care received her J.D. degree from the University of Georgia School of Law. She received her B.A. in sociology from Miami University of Ohio.
Care has lived in Boulder for thirty years. She and her family like to run, ski, hike and cycle. Care and her daughter both volunteer for a local charity organization.
