I came to Care with a legal issue and some confusion about my standing in the law. I consulted a couple other attorneys, over a couple years as I approached this life event. These consultations never cleared up, for me, where I stood in the law. In short order, Care assured me that where I stood was on firm legal footing and that my issue would be resolved. Working with Care was a pleasure. As she got to know me and my case, thoroughly, I was assured that she understood details of where I had been over many years. I have never been in trouble in my life before so when I was accused of a crime I contacted the only lawyer I knew. He told me that it didn’t matter what the truth was, what I said or what the evidence showed no one would ever believe me. In a cynical legal world of perfunctory gestures at humanity and advocacy, I think that her natural ability to remind judges, and even the opposing side, that clients are real flesh and blood people with complex lives, is disarming and refreshing to all involved. Care is quite capable of going fully to the mat when necessary, but I am guessing that her preferred method is to first make the fight less mortal before the fight even begins. I never expected to see a cent of my retainer returned, but Care charged only precisely what she could justify to herself, and is worth far more than it set me back.
