Overview
Ryan Larson is a partner with the firm’s Family Law practice, representing clients in divorce, allocation of parental responsibilities, protection orders, and minor guardianship cases. He has advocated for clients at every stage of a family law case, from emergency and temporary orders hearings to final orders in courts throughout Southern Colorado.
Ryan believes most families are best served by practical, lasting resolutions. He has negotiated many settlements through mediation, settlement conferences, and direct discussions with opposing counsel and self-represented parties. When agreement isn’t possible, he’s fully prepared to make his client’s case in court.
Ryan began his law practice in Illinois, where he handled domestic relations, personal injury, and probate matters. He has also represented adults in guardianship cases through court appointments and advised religious and nonprofit organizations on governance, real estate transactions, and tax-exempt status. Ryan’s diverse background gives him the poise and legal insight needed to fiercely advocate for families in high-stakes disputes and help them navigate intricate asset division to protect their long-term financial security. Before becoming an attorney, Ryan served as a Catholic priest, counseling families through marriage preparation, grief, and personal crises. He also served as a Chaplain Candidate in the U.S. Army Reserve before earning his J.D. from Notre Dame Law School as an Andreas Family Fellow and his Master of Divinity from Mundelein Seminary.
Representative Matters- Parenting time restriction - Secured restrictions on an abusive parent’s parenting time after demonstrating that communications with the client and child reflected an unwillingness to cooperate and disregard for the minor’s well-being.
- Unauthorized child relocation - Obtained an order requiring the return of a young child to the client’s care in Colorado after the other parent relocated across the country with the child without court approval or consent.
- Parenting time modification - Secured temporary orders for nearly equal parenting time, followed by permanent orders awarding majority parenting time, for a client whose child had been withheld by the opposing party for several months.
