Attorney Information

Overview

I have dedicated my career to advocating for those charged with crimes and fighting for a result that aligns with their goals. I know those goals are different for every person and I am committed to a client centered approach throughout my representation.

Meet Criminal Defense Attorney Katie Kellett

I have spent the entirety of my career in the courtroom representing clients who have been accused of various crimes. I understand it is incredibly intimidating to have the full force of the government breathing down your neck, and I have a passion for coming alongside you and guiding you through the process. As a public defender for 3.5 years, I represented clients charged at every level from DUIs and misdemeanors to first degree murder. I have appeared in multiple courtrooms and jurisdictions representing adults and juveniles.

I have worked tirelessly to ensure that clients get the best outcome possible. I understand those goals are different for each person. I am a zealous advocate willing to fight for the wrongly accused. I have also proven to be an effective negotiator in presenting extensive mitigation to DAs and judges to show my clients are so much more than what they are accused of.

Katie's Approach

I aim to thoughtfully listen to your concerns, goals and questions about the process from the beginning of the case until the end. I am dedicated to fighting for those goals while advising you of realistic outcomes. I am not intimidated by the government’s tactics and will carefully litigate your case through investigation, pretrial motions, and trial. Through this approach I have been able to get many cases dismissed before they ever made it to trial.

As a Christian attorney, I acknowledge the value in every individual and that people are worth so much more than the crime they are accused of. It is my honor to bring the story of every person to the district attorney and the judge by getting to know my clients personally and gaining their trust.

When viewing a listing, consider the state advertising restrictions to which lawyers and law firms must adhere, as well as our FindLaw.com Legal Directory disclaimer. Some lawyers publish comparative information regarding the services that they provide which may be subject to specific comparative communications restrictions.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

  • Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
  • Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
  • Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
  • City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
