Overview

Mr. Stuart's practice focuses almost exclusively on criminal defense for individuals and entities in both Colorado State and Federal courts. Mr. Stuart is President-Elect of the Colorado Criminal Defense Bar, is appointed to the Governor's Sentencing Commission's Task Force on Incarceration, and is the chair of the Colorado Criminal Defense Bar's Policy Committee.

Mr. Stuart's experience in criminal defense includes the representation of thousands of clients for offenses ranging from possession of drugs to murder. Mr. Stuart has tried over 70 jury trials including acquittals on charges from first degree murder to sexual assault on a child to drug distribution to kidnapping and robbery. Prior to the founding of his firm in August of 2003, Mr. Stuart work for nearly five years as a Deputy State Public Defender. Mr. Stuart has been named a rising star in the upcoming 2009 Super Lawyer rankings. Now with a brisk state and federal criminal defense practice, Mr. Stuart represents clients in most Colorado Counties from Denver to Las Animas to Eagle and in federal courts from the United States District of Colorado to the Supreme Court of the United States.

Mr. Stuart is a member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the Colorado Criminal Defense Bar, the Denver Bar Association, the Colorado Bar Association, and the United States District of Colorado Criminal Justice Act Panel. Mr. Stuart has been admitted to the Colorado State Bar, the United States District of Colorado, the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit, and the Supreme Court of the United States. He received his juris doctorate from the University of Denver School of Law where he won the prestigious Hoffman Cup trial competition and received his undergraduate degree from Whittier College in California. Mr. Stuart was born in the United Kingdom to American citizens and raised in Fresno, California.
