Overview
Andy Gavaldon joined Haltzman Law Firm, P.C. in 2026 in his role as Of Counsel to the firm.
Andy has been practicing law in Colorado for over 50 years, 17 of which were with the Office of the Colorado Public Defender, and is regarded as one of the top criminal defense lawyers in the country. Andy is a Fellow in both the American Board of Criminal Lawyers and the prestigious American College of Trial Lawyers.
Andy graduated from the University of Colorado in 1972 with a B.A. in English and Philosophy, and earned his J.D. from CU Law School in 1975. He has been a member of the Colorado Bar since 1976 and also belongs to the Colorado Criminal Defense Bar and several other organizations dedicated to criminal law.
Andy has been a faculty member of the National Criminal Defense College in Macon, Georgia since 1992, where he teaches courses on opening and closing arguments, cross-examinations, and other aspects of trial practice. He has been qualified as an expert in criminal defense and has been asked to teach and lecture on the subject throughout the country.
Andy practices throughout the state of Colorado, handling major cases in Fort Collins, Boulder, Greeley, and other cities. He has won acquittals in numerous homicides, sexual assaults, and other serious felony cases. His reputation as an effective advocate has led other attorneys across the country to retain Andy as a consultant or co-counsel, and he is frequently engaged to present both civil and criminal cases in court on behalf of fellow lawyers.
