I am now in my 33rd year practicing law in the wonderful State of Colorado. I have spent all those years in our courtrooms, traveling across the state to fight for clients in family law (divorce and postdivorce), personal injury, and minor criminal defense matters. While courtroom work is something I love, working toward just resolutions in cases always comes first. At Ammarell Deasy, we pride ourselves in our ability to fashion resolutions that give our clients control of outcomes – outside of courtrooms. I know that when people need attorneys, the circumstances usually aren't the best. We work hard to meet your needs and give you timely guidance in challenging times. We have dealt with everything from multi-million-dollar estates to horribly abusive relationships in the family law arena. What we value even more than the "work," however, are the relationships we build with clients. When we started Ammarell Deasy, we decided that our firm would be different from the places we had left behind – focused on commitments to customer service and superior representation. As the proud son of a retired Denver Police Officer, I learned the value of service at a very young age. I also learned through various legal mentors over the years that effort never takes a day off. Put a service motive and effort together and you have a family law attorney ready to help no matter how difficult the circumstances.

If you schedule a consultation with me, I will ask you where you see yourself in a year and how you expect us to fit in. I don't judge you because of your hurts, hang-ups, or habits. Since we all have them, I want to help you manage them through a difficult time. If something stands in the way of you being everything you can be, you can expect me to help you with it. I will have also some expectations for sure. If you have children, I will let you know I care more about them than you can possibly imagine because I want their futures to be wonderful. I will remind your children that your emotional baggage, even though they are older or can "handle it." I am confident they do not want it. If you can't seem to get over things from your past or about your spouse, I will listen, guide you, and eventually talk about the impact of forgiveness and moving forward. That does not mean we forget about the tough things, but managing them becomes essential. After all these years in family law, I know you can make it, and I'm certain I can help. I promise you there is hope.

When not in the office, I spend a great deal of time teaching. I teach courtroom advocates how to stand up before judges and juries and "do it" the right way. I have taught for the National Institute for Trial Advocacy (NITA), the American and Colorado Bar Associations, the Colorado District Attorney's Council, the Colorado Defense Lawyers' Association, the Denver City Attorney's Office, the Colorado County Attorneys Association, Colorado's Office of the Child Representative and the Colorado State Court Administrator's Office. I think I have lectured on every aspect of courtroom work over the last 20 years for both state and federal litigators. I have served as faculty at more than 100 trial schools across the country and given public presentations 150+ times. I have worked as an adjunct law professor at the University of Denver Sturm College of Law for more than two decades and I am proud to see many of my former law students working hard in Colorado's courtrooms and law firms, with many having taken the bench. I also am a past President of the Douglas/Elbert Bar Association and a past Regional Vice-President for the Colorado Bar Association. Lastly, I currently sit on the 18th Judicial District's Judicial Performance Commission, having been appointed to the position by the Chief Justice of the Colorado Supreme Court.

After all these years, I am humbled to know that my colleagues think I bring something positive to the profession, as the links below show. I can't help but remember what my mom and dad told me many years ago: "You won't get any place in this world unless the people you work with want you around."

These days, if I am not doing something in the legal world, I am probably cycling down some roadway or path in Colorado or trying to lift weights, wondering why I'm not as strong as I was at 30 years old! With two degrees from the University of Colorado, you can imagine how much I love my Buffaloes on fall Saturdays. Of course, that love is matched only by my passion for the Broncos on Sundays!

Finally, I am blessed with amazing children, all of whom have managed to survive my parenting during their upbringing. Their loving grace leaves me speechless.
