Stephen Carbonneau - Lakewood, CO

Stephen joined Pearson & Paris, P.C. in 2021. He practices in the areas of divorce, family law, and civil litigation.

Stephen has extensive experience in all aspects of divorce matters. He represents clients in high asset divorces, spousal maintenance (alimony) litigation, cases involving complex assets, cases involving marital business interest, allocation of parental responsibilities (custody), child support disputes, grandparent’s rights, and common law marriage claims. Stephen also handles post-decree litigation and drafting of prenuptial agreements. He is a strong negotiator when representing clients in mediation. Having been a trial attorney for all his career, Stephen has represented numerous clients in court and prides himself on his trial advocacy skills when cases are unable to settle.

Stephen began his career working as a Deputy District Attorney in the 14th Judicial District where he honed his trial skills while also gaining valuable insight about police and prosecutors. As a defense attorney, Stephen now advocates for the rights of those who are wrongfully accused or unfairly prosecuted by law enforcement. He represents clients in misdemeanor and felony matters, and often those that involve driving under the influence (DUI), domestic violence (DV), violent crimes, and traffic offenses.

Stephen represents clients in civil litigation matters including cases that landlord-tenant disputes (evictions), tort claims, breach of contract cases, and civil protection order matters. He uses his skills as a trial attorney to zealously advocate for his clients.

Regarding his background, Stephen attended the University of Miami for his undergraduate studies where he graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts in 2015. Stephen then attended the University of Colorado Law School where he graduated in 2018. He was admitted to the bar as a licensed attorney the same year.

Outside of work, Stephen is an avid skier and mountain biker. He also volunteers his time to give back to the community.
