Attorney Information

Overview

Margaret joined Koskoff after serving as an Assistant United States Attorney for the United States Attorney’s Office, District of Connecticut. She has also served as a lawyer in the United States Army JAG Corps.

With an even-keeled and consistent perspective on complex legal issues, she brings a commitment to accountability in her pursuit of justice. She joined Koskoff in 2024 in support of the firm’s growing firearms litigation practice and other malpractice areas. Throughout 2025 and 2026, Margaret, along with Chris Mattei, has led national litigation on behalf of federal law enforcement and national security officials who have been unconstitutionally purged from federal service. She currently represents current and former government officials and other individuals who have been unlawfully targeted by the government.

During her tenure as a federal prosecutor, her cases focused on firearms prosecutions, domestic terrorism, and violent crime. She has tried numerous federal criminal trials to verdict and has briefed and argued multiple cases before the Second Circuit Court of Appeals.

Before joining the Department of Justice, Margaret was a Captain in the Army, serving in the 101st Airborne Division and 5th Special Forces Group. As a JAG officer, she spent significant time overseas, deploying to Iraq and Syria, advising on disaster relief operations in Liberia, and being stationed over a year on the Korean peninsula. She served on two combat deployments and is a Bronze Star recipient for meritorious service.

Margaret has taught repeat courses at Yale Law School on federal prosecution and on the Russo-Ukrainian War as a Visiting Lecturer in Law. She is currently a coordinating attorney with Yale Law School’s Peter Gruber Rule of Law Clinic.

Margaret is often called on by major media outlets like CNN, MSNOW, ABC News, and NewsNation, to provide legal commentary concerning the rule of law, government overreach, the law of armed conflict, and federal criminal justice. Her work is frequently featured in national publications, including The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, and Bloomberg News.

Your Profile?  Update Now

When viewing a listing, consider the state advertising restrictions to which lawyers and law firms must adhere, as well as our FindLaw.com Legal Directory disclaimer. Some lawyers publish comparative information regarding the services that they provide which may be subject to specific comparative communications restrictions.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

  • Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
  • Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
  • Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
  • City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
