Bridgeport Medical Malpractice Lawyer

Overview

Sarah Steinfeld started working at Koskoff Koskoff & Bieder in 2015 as the firm's third Theodore I. Koskoff Trial Advocacy Fellow. She joined the firm as an associate in 2017, with a primary focus on medical malpractice cases. Sarah is a strong advocate for justice and is dedicated to preserving that justice for the clients with whom she works.

During her fellowship, Sarah joined the Koskoff team bringing suit on behalf of ten families against the manufacturer, distributor, and seller of the weapon used in the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting. She also worked on a variety of medical malpractice, personal injury, and civil rights cases.

Sarah is a 2012 graduate of Columbia Law School, where she was a research assistant for several professors and an active board member of the Law Students for Reproductive Justice. While at Columbia, she was a clinic student at the school's Sexuality and Gender Law Clinic and she served as Executive Editor on the Columbia Journal of Transnational Law.

Prior to joining Koskoff as a Trial Advocacy Fellow, Sarah was a law clerk to The Honorable Jeffrey Alker Meyer of the U.S. District Court in Bridgeport, CT. Following law school, she joined the U.S. Department of Justice Honors Program as a law clerk in the Boston Immigration Court. Before law school, Sarah worked at Planned Parenthood League of Massachusetts, managing a statewide municipal and legislative advocacy program promoting school-based health education. Sarah received a BA in sociology and gender studies from Oberlin College.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

Comfort Level
- Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?

Credentials
- How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?

Cost
- How are the lawyer's fees structured - hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?

City
- Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
