The road that has led me to Ruane has been long and windy. This is surprising since, as far back as I can remember, I knew that I wanted to practice criminal law. In fact, my whole life was geared in that direction. I practiced reading and writing everything and anything, public speaking in the form of acting in plays became my passion, etc. When I reached college I majored in Sociology, but I had two concentrations in Penology and Criminology. I was obsessed.

After graduating summa cum laude from SCSU, I matriculated to Boston College Law School. I chose BC Law because they had a very strong Public Interest Law Foundation group and collection of classes. It fit me like a T and three years later I graduated magna cum laude.

I sat for, and passed, the Connecticut Bar Exam. This is where the story turns a bit sad. I desperately wanted to practice criminal law, but I could not even find any firms to interview with. I ended up taking the first legal job I ever had, which was not criminal. Suffice it to say I hated it. Many other jobs (both in and out of the law) followed a similar path. Get them, keep them for a short period, and move on.

I was getting so frustrated with an unstable work life that I decided I would pursue another passion of mine. I went and got my MS Degree in Human Resources Development at Villanova University. I instantly started looking for jobs in HR.

While looking for an HR position I started receiving job announcements for law jobs. One of them was for a criminal law firm called Ruane DUI & Criminal Defense Attorneys. You can guess the end of the story. Here I am and happy as a clam.

I cannot tell you the degree of joy I get from helping those who cannot help themselves. It is an awesome responsibility to think that what I can do can fundamentally change the life of another. I do not take it lightly. I put all of my strength in every fight I fight for my clients, and am only able to rest when I know I have done every possible thing I could have done. The rest is up to Lady Justice.
