With a service-oriented mindset, Paul believes in engaging with and giving back to our community. He has served as Southington’s Assistant Town Attorney and on municipal and regional boards including the Southington Zoning Board of Appeals and the Central Connecticut Regional Planning Agency. In 2025, Paul was duly elected as the Judge of the Farmington Regional Probate Court.

From a charitable standpoint, Paul has served as the President of the Board of Directors of the Southington-Cheshire Community YMCA and is a proud supporter of Connecticut Children’s. In 2023, Paul was awarded the Glenn E. Knierim Pro Bono Award—an award given by the Connecticut Probate Assembly and the Office of the Probate Court Administrator to only one attorney in Connecticut each year to recognize that attorney’s pro bono contribution to Connecticut’s probate courts.

Having served as an attorney, fiduciary, and guardian within hundreds of probate cases of nearly every type, Paul has been a featured speaker at seminars presented by the National Business Institute on topics related to probate and estate planning. He publishes a regular column featured in Southington Magazine and Plainville Magazine that provides readers with helpful information on various legal topics. When not practicing law or focusing on community engagement, Paul enjoys traveling with his wife and two daughters.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

  • Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
  • Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
  • Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
  • City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
