Attorney Information

Overview

Alexandra "Xandy" Duffy is a dedicated and experienced matrimonial and family law attorney. Xandy's practice covers a wide range of matrimonial and family law matters, including divorce, post-judgement modifications including property distribution, child custody, spousal and child support, matrimonial agreements (prenuptial, post-nuptial, and separation), and adoption.

Xandy's philosophy as a family attorney is firmly rooted in strategic, yet practical solutions. Her goal is to alleviate the burdens her clients face by facilitating resolutions that enable them to move forward with confidence. As a level-headed divorce practitioner, she believes in the effectiveness of non-adversarial strategies for dispute resolution. However, when mediation isn't possible, Xandy is a vigorous and fierce advocate for her clients, ensuring their voices are heard.

Clients value Xandy’s methodical and tactical approach, coupled with her calm and responsive demeanor. They depend on her to navigate their cases efficiently, with the assurance that she will remain responsive and keep them well-informed every step of the way.

Xandy earned her J.D. from Seton Hall Law School and her B.A. from Mount Holyoke College. She is a member of the Connecticut Bar Association, the Fairfield County Bar Association, and the Greenwich Bar Association.

Her dedication to giving back to the community is evident through her service on the Board of Directors of the Breast Cancer Alliance in Greenwich, CT and her volunteer work with Foundations in Education. Xandy resides in Greenwich, CT, with her husband and four children.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

  • Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
  • Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
  • Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
  • City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
