Overview
Steven H. Levy
Whether you are facing a divorce, child custody dispute, high-value property division, or another significant legal challenge, you need more than an attorney who knows the law—you need one who understands how Connecticut courts evaluate cases, how settlements are reached, and when litigation is necessary to protect your interests.
For more than 40 years, Attorney Steven H. Levy has helped individuals and families navigate some of life’s most difficult legal situations with clarity, compassion, and strategic advocacy. His practice is built on meticulous preparation, sound practical advice, and an unwavering commitment to achieving the best possible outcome for every client.
Legal disputes affect far more than the issues before the court—they impact your family, your finances, and your future. Attorney Levy helps clients make informed decisions while protecting what matters most to them.
Attorney Levy brings a perspective that few family law attorneys possess.
He previously directed the Special Masters Pretrial Program for the Litchfield Judicial District and has served for years as a Special Master across the Litchfield, Waterbury, and Hartford Judicial Districts, as well as the Regional Family Trial Docket.
In that role, he works alongside the courts and fellow attorneys to help resolve complex family disputes before trial. That experience has given him a practical understanding of how cases are evaluated, what drives successful settlements, and how to prepare clients for litigation when settlement is not possible.
That experience also gives him insight into how judges evaluate cases, the issues that influence outcomes, and what it takes to negotiate meaningful resolutions, while remaining fully prepared to litigate when necessary. Whether your case can be resolved through negotiation or requires aggressive courtroom advocacy, Attorney Levy provides the experience, preparation, and steady guidance clients need when the stakes are highest.
A Recognized Authority in Family Law
Before entering private practice, Attorney Levy served as a Judicial Law Clerk for the Connecticut Judicial Branch, an experience that further shaped his understanding of judicial decision-making and courtroom procedure.
Attorney Levy’s knowledge extends beyond the courtroom. He is a published author whose work on family law has appeared in respected legal publications, including the Connecticut Family Law Journal and the American Bar Association's Family Advocate. His articles have addressed subjects ranging from contempt proceedings in domestic relations matters to the unique challenges presented by self-represented litigants.
Attorney Levy lives in Litchfield with his wife, Thomasina, an award-winning songwriter, singer, and internationally recognized mountain dulcimer player.
