Hired Attorney 2025I had an incredibly disappointing experience with Jeffery Carbino as my bankruptcy lawyer, and I feel compelled to warn others about his unprofessionalism and incompetence. If you are looking for a lawyer who is organized, responsive, and clear in their communication, look elsewhere. Jeffery Carbino was the opposite of what I expected from a legal professional, and my experience with him was frustrating from start to finish. First and foremost, Jeffery Carbino is completely unorganized. From the beginning of my case, it was evident that he lacked the ability to keep track of important documents and deadlines. He frequently misplaced paperwork, which led to unnecessary delays in my bankruptcy process. On multiple occasions, I had to resend documents that I had already provided, simply because he lost them or forgot where he had stored them. This level of disorganization is completely unacceptable for someone handling such a critical legal matter. A bankruptcy filing is stressful enough without having to deal with an attorney who cannot keep track of essential paperwork. Additionally, Jeffery Carbino was painfully slow to respond to my inquiries. Whenever I had a question or concern about my case, it would take days—sometimes even weeks—to get a response. I tried calling, emailing, and even stopping by his office, but getting a reply from him was like pulling teeth. It was incredibly frustrating to be left in the dark about my own case, especially when I needed clarification on urgent matters. A good lawyer should be prompt in their communication, ensuring that their clients feel informed and supported. Unfortunately, Jeffery Carbino failed miserably in this regard. Another major issue I had with him was his inability to explain things in a way that made sense. Bankruptcy law can be complex, and as a client, I relied on my attorney to break things down in a way that I could understand. Instead, Jeffery Carbino spoke in confusing legal jargon and made little effort to ensure that I fully grasped the details of my case. When I asked for clarification, he often seemed annoyed, as if I were inconveniencing him by trying to understand my own legal situation. His lack of effective communication left me feeling uncertain and anxious throughout the entire process. On top of all of this, he was consistently late to our appointments. I understand that lawyers have busy schedules, but showing up late every single time is simply unprofessional. There were multiple occasions when I waited at his office for extended periods, only for him to show up late without an apology or explanation. One time, he even canceled last minute, leaving me scrambling to rearrange my schedule. It was clear to me that he did not value my time or take my case seriously. Perhaps the most frustrating aspect of working with Jeffery Carbino was his overall lack of professionalism. He often seemed distracted during our meetings, checking his phone or looking at other documents instead of focusing on my case. He also had an unprofessional attitude, making sarcastic comments and acting as though my concerns were not important. Instead of making me feel confident about my bankruptcy filing, he made me feel like just another case number—an inconvenience rather

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
