Overview
Jillian Seymour is a Litigation Fellow at Sanford Heisler Sharp McKnight, LLP.
Jillian received her law degree from the City University of New York School of Law and her undergraduate degree from Wellesley College in political science and Middle Eastern studies. While at law school, she was a recipient of the Graduate Fellowship, which awards full scholarships to law students exhibiting excellent academic credentials and a strong commitment to social justice. Her internships during law school focused on Freedom of Information Act litigation for the Sorenson Law Office, as well as public interest prosecution with the New York Attorney General's Public Integrity Bureau. As a law student, she served as a research assistant for Professor Julie Goldscheid, examining Section 1983 claims and other civil avenues by which to hold public institutions accountable for gender-based violence. Jillian also participated in the New York judiciary's Pro Bono Scholar program, enabling her to sit early for the New York Bar Exam in order to devote the entirety of her final semester of law school to pro bono, direct-service legal work. She consequently externed at the Urban Justice Center's Safety Net Project, wherein she assisted New York City tenants with various landlord-tenant issues.
Prior to joining Sanford Heisler Sharp McKnight, LLP, Jillian worked as an investigator for the Texas Office of Capital and Forensic Writs, a state office that represents indigent individuals on Death Row in their post-conviction appeals. Deeply committed to exploring the world, she also served as a Peace Corps volunteer in Amhara, Ethiopia and has traveled throughout the Arab region.
Jillian is a member of the New York Bar.
When Jillian is not lawyering, she enjoys visiting new places and absorbing herself in nature.
