Roger Taylor - Washington, DC

Roger D. Taylor works with technology-focused companies to help solve their ongoing intellectual property disputes. He is a member of the bar in the states of Texas and Georgia and the District of Columbia as well as many Federal Courts. Roger has represented clients in federal courts located in California, Texas, Illinois, Delaware, New York, Virginia, Georgia, Minnesota, and Florida. He is admitted to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office, the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, several other federal appellate courts, and the United States Supreme Court.

Roger has a degree in electrical engineering from the University of Arkansas, and he obtained valuable industry experience by working as an engineer before he attended law school at George Washington University in Washington D.C. After completing his legal education, he clerked as a law clerk and technical advisor to Chief Judge Howard Markey at the Court of Customs and Patent Appeals, a predecessor court to the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. His technical and legal experience includes software and hardware systems, wireless telecommunications, semiconductor manufacturing, mechanical designs and automotive technology. He has spent much of his career working with clients to protect their valuable technology from competitors and to defend clients against ill-founded charges of infringement.

Before joining PV Law, LLP Roger was a partner with Finnegan, Henderson, Farabow, Garrett & Dunner, one of the largest Intellectual Property firms in the United States. From 1989 until 1992 he served as that firm's resident attorney and managing partner of its Tokyo Office. During his three years living in Japan, Roger worked with many Asia-based clients who remain friends and clients today. After returning to the United States, he co-founded the firm's Atlanta, Georgia office in 1997. Roger acted as managing partner of the Atlanta Office of that firm for eleven years. He also served for seven years on that firm's firm-wide management committee. Those years of helping manage complex law firm operations gave Roger a good sense of how law firms can deliver high quality representation to clients in an efficient manner.

Prior to attending law school. Roger worked as naval gun systems engineer at the United States Naval Surface Weapons Center in Dahlgren, Virginia, and as a design engineer at Sperry Rand Corporation in Reston, Virginia. During law school, Roger worked with RCA Corporation's Patent Operations Office in Arlington, Virginia.
