Hired Attorney 2013-2022Patrick has been our Lawyer for 9 years. We found him very knowledgeable and caring during the process of sitting up a Will, Trust, Power of Attorney etc. He has helped us with a variety of issues over the past years and has been a real support to our family at all times. We would highly recommend Patrick Smith.

Hired Attorney 2020Our appointment and business with Mr. Patrick Smith was at the Apopka office and his team. We sadly regret using him for our needs. Mr. Smith seems to like being in a hurry in his talks to somewhat explaining what a persons needs are. Our free consultation was about 12minutes then out the door! My husband even said, I felt as though, we were being pushed out the front door. And when we returned to our next appointment after being called from their office and rescheduling twice to finalize the documents. Which, we were asked, is this correct, we said, yes, signed and briefly showed other papers to fill out and again shown the way out. But not before he took the chance to say, if you know anyone who needs a speaker or legal assistances I'll give you a few cards to give to them and to attach to your papers. This was all done in seven minutes. Maybe Mr. Smith would be better as a auctioneer--No questions, just a quick shake down!

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
