Excellent Attorney, very knowledgeable and willing to help. Our association has been stealing for many years. Many attorneys wanted a hefty amount of money upfront. Steve studied the case at no cost. He was able to prove the case at a fraction of the cost we were quoted by other attorneys. The corrupt board is gone! Thank you so very much Steve for all you have done.

Katz is the most revolting creature I ever came across. It's so bad I can't find words to describe him. He ran our association to the ground, and then turn around and impose a special assessment on owners to fit the property that he, the self elected board members and the management ran to the ground. Katz is a liar, deceitful and is very very disrespectful. Bad bad experiences with him. Nothing good.

We're sorry that you feel that way. You should know however that attorneys do not have the ability to run associations into the ground. You should also know that once my firm became active with your association, your association obtained new property management and new financial management. For the first time in years, your community is moving in the right direction. While it is unfortunate that a special assessment has been required, that has nothing to do with the law firm but rather the fact that the community has been underfunded for years. I am extremely excited to see what this new management team can do in conjunction with the efforts of the board of directors. Rather than continually trying to tear the community down, I strongly suggest that you be part of the solution rather than part of the problem. To anybody else reading this response to this review, please understand that this reviewer is not a client of our firm and has never been our client. Rather, she is suing our client and apparently doesn't appreciate our efforts in defending our client as much as our client does.

This is the lawyer for the Tree Garden Condominiums, I can not convey how bad the experience has been for us. He does not represent our interests.

Your fight is not with my firm but rather with the board of directors for Tree Garden. You are clearly upset because you have filed suit against our client and we are representing our client's best interests rather than your own. You have made it clear that your intentions are to make the best Tree Garden community possible. We believe that your intentions are in line with the board of directors and in time you will come to see the benefit of the board's current actions.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

  • Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
  • Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
  • Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
  • City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
