I hired Daniel to do my divorce case. I had a highly acrimonious divorce and was the definition of “messy”. I really felt like Mr. Ifill helped me through this daunting legal process. He actually listened to my concerns and helped me fight the injustices in my case. He helped me and my children get the best possible outcome against my monster of an ex husband and I am eternally grateful.

I have numerous concerns to address, but I'm uncertain where to commence. I was a client of Attorney Daniel Ifill, who unfortunately, compromised my trust. His unprofessional and inattentive handling of my divorce case led to unnecessary complications, including a near-contempt charge for failing to submit critical documents requested by the Judge. Initially, I sought his expertise during a vulnerable period, struggling with depression, and was drawn to his firm through online research and positive reviews. However, his representation proved ineffective, prioritizing financial gain over meaningful progress, prompting me to terminate our professional relationship. I regret engaging Mr. Daniel's services due to several concerns. Firstly, I provided him with financial support to ensure my case received optimal representation and guidance. However, his primary interest seemed to be financial gain rather than facilitating a smooth legal process. Furthermore, he failed to maintain adequate communication, neglecting to update me on the judge's requests, case developments, and potential outcomes. His contact was typically limited to requests for additional payment. As a senior citizen and diligent worker, I struggled financially, working over 100 hours per month to meet my obligations, including Mr. Daniel's fees. Despite my economic hardship, his lack of effort yielded no results and nearly led to my arrest due to unsubmitted documents. My financial obligations to Mr. Daniel led to delinquency on bills and mortgage payments. After an extended work stretch and severe health issues, I requested Mr. Daniel consider revising our payment arrangement, factoring in my compromised health and substantial payments already made. He stated that his response would be to discontinue handling my case and withhold my original critical documents related to my assets until I fulfilled his financial demands. Regrettably, I continue to be without my critical original documents and have borne substantial financial losses, with no resolution, resulting in the need to engage the services of another divorce lawyer at additional expense. Prospective clients of divorce attorneys should undertake diligent research before making a hiring decision to guarantee their case receives optimal handling. When seeking legal representation, exercise diligence to avoid financial mismanagement and subpar service. My experience was underwhelming, marked by perceived dishonesty and financial exploitation, resulting in a zero-star assessment. I advise others navigating divorce to proceed with caution.

If I could give a 0 star, I would. I typically do not write reviews, but everyone should be aware of this money-hungry scam artist. I reached out to him on an AGREED relocation between my ex-husband and me, a case I already submitted EVERYTHING on AND had a hearing set for which he canceled because he was not ready (he did not even begin looking into the case). I basically just wanted help in the courtroom in case my ex decided to last-minute change his mind a CYA type of thing. He turned an agreement into a huge drawn out and stressful mess. He sent me documents with other clients' PERSONAL and CONFIDENTIAL information on them, documents with mixed and incorrect info, submitted incorrect info to the courts, and racked up bills for me contacting him to fix HIS mistakes. In addition to constantly drawing money out of me knowing I was desperate to get this case done so my husband and children can move on with our lives. I literally had to stay on top of him every day to get anything done and even then he would give me a date he would have things done and that day would turn into weeks. Then when I would receive the documents, they were again, with OTHER clients' information on them!!! DO NOT HIRE THIS MAN. He talks a big game in the beginning, but do not let him fool you! He caused me more stress and financial loss than I ever imagined and I am writing this to prevent this from happening to anyone else. I have TONS of screenshots to prove EVERYTHING I have said. To top it all off, there was $2656.00 of unbilled charges unaccounted for and when I reached out to him about my money on a Monday, he sent me a third bill a full 7 days later charging me for things that he DID NOT DO just to get out of sending me back the money he owes me. Absolutely PATHETIC.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

  • Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
  • Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
  • Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
  • City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
