Attorney Information

Overview

Attorney Hunter Rhyne is a native of Florida, growing up all over the state. His legal journey started at the University of Central Florida where he excelled academically and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Philosophy with a specialization in Ethics. During his time at UCF, he had the opportunity to participate as part of the UCF’s mock trial team and become a finalist in the Florida Regional Philosophy of Ethics Competition. As he was eager to expand his knowledge of justice, ethics, and real-world application of the same, Hunter pursued his Juris Doctorate at Nova Southeastern University | Shepard Broad College of Law.

While at NSU, Hunter excelled in criminal law, evidence, and trial advocacy, and received recognition for his exceptional skills in the same. Further developing his trial skills, Hunter successfully presented his abilities by being selected to two of the nation’s largest Moot Court competitions: The National New York City Bar Moot Court Competition, and the American Bar Association National Appellate Advocacy Competition. Hunter exhibited further prowess through his membership in the Trial Association wherein he was appointed to compete in the Texas Young Lawyers Association – National Trial Competition, and the South Texas Mock Trial Challenge. Additionally, during his time at NSU, Hunter was a Junior Associate for the Nova Southeastern Law Review wherein he drafted an article discussing the shifting standards of the admission of expert evidence in trial court and assisted with drafting and editing Volume 43 of the Nova Southeastern Law Review Journal.

Before joining Demesmin & Dover, Hunter served folks throughout his community as an Assistant Public Defender with the Broward County Public Defender’s Office. Hunter handled many types of cases during his time there, from misdemeanors such as Battery and DUI all the way to serious felonies like Drug Possession/Delivery and Burglary. Notably, Hunter served as trial counsel in a case involving Florida’s statute of limitations that resulted in a stalwart standard of protection for clients charged with crimes facing similar issues throughout Florida. See Matos v. State, 330 So. 3d 964 (Fla. 4th DCA 2021). Throughout his time at the Law Office of the Public Defender, Hunter fought for his clients’ rights with the constant goal that it would lead to a better future for both them, and our community.

As Hunter saw Demesmin & Dover’s commitment to providing community support and a focus on clients through providing only the best legal representation, joining the firm was a natural fit.

Hunter looks forward to working with the skilled and focused attorneys at Demesmin & Dover to bring clients a feeling of safety and understanding in their hardest times on the way to their brightest future.

While not at work, Hunter can be found enjoying nightlife, theatre or film at venues throughout South Florida, going to festivals, or playing music (He is also listed on IMDB). Being from Florida, Hunter can also be found enjoying fishing and the beaches. He is also a big Miami Heat fan.
