Overview
Growing up with a physician father, Marta was imbued early in life with a desire to help others in distress. Her empathetic demeanor compelled Marta to further focus on those less fortunate. As a result, Marta spent most of her 16 years of family law experience working in public service for Coast to Coast Legal Aid South Florida, where she rose to the level of Deputy Director.
"I relate to my clients’ struggles, and I find it very rewarding to do everything in my power to help them recover their sense of security and optimism about their future.”
While at Legal Aid, Marta specialized in helping survivors of intimate-partner violence navigate the divorce process. Her compassionate nature, coupled with an incisive legal mind, make Marta an ideal advocate to handle complex divorce and child-custody proceedings.
The nature of her work also led Marta to spend a great deal of time in front of family court judges throughout South Florida. In the process, Marta earned a reputation for being meticulous in her preparation and a tenacious advocate on behalf of her clients. She is well-known and respected for her candor and integrity.
“It makes a difference when members of the judiciary know they can trust you. Effectively sharing the myriad facts and issues with the courts, and doing so in a way that is open and honest, helps secure the best possible outcome in each case.”
A native Floridian, Marta received her undergraduate degree from the University of Florida and her law degree from Nova Southeastern University. She is a first-generation Cuban-American, and is fluent in Spanish.
Possessed of a strong sense of community service, Marta is a member of the Broward Victim’s Rights Coalition, the Florida Statewide Fatality Review Team and is an appointed member of the Broward County Commission’s Human Rights Advisory Board.
