Overview

Rene Suarez was born in Pahokee, Florida to Cuban immigrant parents and grew up in Miami. At an early age, Rene learned the virtues of hard work from his blue collar, practical family. Rene’s father was a welder and his mother was a lab tech at a sugar refinery. Rene received his bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, with high honors, from Florida International University where he was first in his class. Mr. Suarez received his law degree from St. Thomas University School of Law in Miami where he graduated Magna Cum Laude and ranked third in a class of 130. Rene passed the bar exam on his first try in July 2001 with one of the highest scores recorded for that testing session and the highest score of any student from a Florida school.

Rene and his wife Yohany, who is also the firm’s Administrator, have three children who keep them quite busy when they are not in the office. When time permits, Rene is a muscle car enthusiast who can be spotted in his driveway tinkering with a variety of vehicles, much to the dismay of Yohany.

Mr. Suarez has worked for large civil defense firms and as in-house counsel for a Fortune 500 company. Rene found his true calling in helping people caught up in the criminal justice system: “There is hardly a more noble calling than defending the individual rights that the founding fathers of this Nation fought and died for. One of the most fundamental of those rights is the government’s burden to have to prove someone guilty beyond, and to the exclusion of, every reasonable doubt. It is my job as a criminal defense attorney to make sure the prosecutor, the judge, and the jury recognize and respect that most fundamental principle.”
