Attorney Information

Overview

After growing up in Pennsylvania, I attended college at Johns Hopkins University. At Johns Hopkins, I was a member of the Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC) and was captain of the football team. Upon graduation, I received a commission as an officer in the Army Reserve and an NCAA postgraduate grant to attend graduate school. Following graduation, I attended the University of Pennsylvania Law school in Philadelphia. During my time at Penn, I concentrated in criminal law and national security law. While in law school, I interned at the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania and for the Pennsylvania Institutional Law Project (a prisoners' rights legal aid nonprofit).

In 1996, I graduated from law school and became a member of the Pennsylvania Bar and New Jersey Bar. I worked for a large Philadelphia law firm before fulfilling my career ambition of becoming an FBI Agent.

After graduating from the FBI Academy, I served in Newark, New Jersey, San Juan, Puerto Rico, Tampa, Florida, Washington D.C., and Sarasota, Florida.

In addition to various supervisory assignments, I was an Assistant Inspector-in-Place, member of the FBI's Shooting Review Group and the FBI's Compliance Inspection Teams, Crisis Management Coordinator, SWAT Senior Team Leader, and Liaison to the Department of Homeland Security.

During my 25-year career with the FBI, I investigated drug trafficking organizations, violent gangs, white collar criminals, corrupt public officials and terrorists.

I have instructed police officers on federal civil rights/color of law matters, and hate crimes. Additionally, I served as a police instructor, firearms instructor, defensive tactics instructor, tactical instructor, medical instructor, and active shooter response instructor for patrol officers.

My last assignment before retirement was as the Supervisor of the Sarasota, Florida office and Program Coordinator for Economic Crimes and Intellectual Property Crimes in the Tampa Division.

In addition to the law, I currently use my skills and experience as a consultant for a non-profit organization. In this capacity, I administer an all-hazards security program that provides consultations, training, threat and vulnerability risk assessments, and threat mitigation.

I am also an Adjunct Professor of cybercrime at the University of South Florida (USF).
