    Consulted Law firm 2022-2023
I sought out the advice and spoke to Attorney Mark personally approximately two months ago. Since then I have been communicating with his paralegal by the name of Pam whom is very rude and rushes you off the phone. Every time I attempt to speak with Attorney Mark she says he is out of town. I called today to speak with him and Pam tells me he is out of town and last week she told me that he would be back in town this week. I asked her today if he was back in town and she she said that he is out of town. After we hung up she called me back to say she just got off the phone with him and he told her to tell me some things about my documents were not original. All of documents are legal plus I paid them fees for filing with a money order. Long story short, if I had not continued to call to inquire I would never had known! I advise NOT to use this firm!

    Hired Law firm 2020-2021
We hired Mr. Mark to complete a probate transaction, other than the first meeting we have been forced to deal with his paralegal Pam who is unwilling to respond to our emails and phone calls. It has been incredibly difficult to get any answers from her, she has submitted incorrect paperwork and caused double effort to be applied in trying to resolve this legal matter. It has been over a month since we were told everything had been submitted to the courts yet cannot get a file or case number and find no record of it in the Clerk of Court website. She is very condescending and dismissive. Our case was just not big enough to warrant hers or Mr. Marks attention. Very disappointing.

    Recommends this Law firm
Mark & Brown assisted my husband and me with our estate planning. We now have a comprehensive plan including wills and a well-thought out trust document based on our specific situation.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

  • Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
  • Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
  • Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
  • City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
