Overview
Paul Sutherland is a Central Florida native, having lived in the Central Florida area for the past 34 years. Paul graduated from Central Florida's own Cypress Creek High School. He continued on to Valencia where he earned his AA degree before obtaining two BA's from the University of Central Florida. After receiving his MS from Henley-Putnam, Paul attended Barry University School of Law in Orlando, Florida and was ranked seventh overall at the time of graduation.
While obtaining his JD, Paul gained legal experience as a judicial extern for the Honorable Patricia Doherty and the Honorable Kim Shepard in the Ninth Judicial Circuit Court of Florida. Paul then furthered his legal education when he became a Certified Legal Intern with the City of Orlando Attorney's Offices civil litigation team.
Paul has never been one to shy away from challenges. Since the age of 16 he has worked in the ever-evolving information technology field where he taught himself how to program, troubleshoot, and deploy network, server, and end user technology systems. With this vast IT background, Paul is eager and able to tackle any case involving technical discovery.
Paul is exceptionally proud of his history as a volunteer. Having called the Central Florida area home his entire life, the improvement of his community and the people who live in it is one of the driving forces behind his passion. He routinely donates his time and labor to organizations which help those in need, as well as participates in and raises money for charities which benefit local Floridians. It is the commitment to community improvement and mentorship that Wilson McCoy P.A. champions that lead Paul to choose Wilson McCoy P.A. to be his home.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
