Overview
Maddison Cacciatore-Straus, raised in Brevard County, pursued a legal career due to the inspiration and admiration she felt for her father and grandfather. Following in their footsteps, Ms. Cacciatore began her career by helping fight the big tobacco companies in Engle progeny cases while working at Abrahamson & Uiterwyk’s Mass Tort Division. Here, she was mentored by the trial legend, Hendrik Uiterwyk, and Anna Frederiksen-Cherry, who taught her the importance of professionalism and communication within the legal field. After gaining valuable experience, she could not pass up an offer to move home to Brevard County and begin working alongside her father and grandfather at Nance Cacciatore.
To complete her J.D., Maddison attended Stetson University College of Law. She says that she did not go to law school only so she could negotiate with insurance adjusters. Instead, she wanted to gain important legal knowledge that she could then pass to the people of her community through her legal representation and counsel.
Recently, Maddison became Guardian ad Litem in Brevard County. In this role, she is assigned to a child within the dependency system and her role is to be an independent, third-party, volunteer who advocates for the best interests of the child. She takes pride in being able to become another trusted adult in a child’s life when that child might be going through one of the most difficult times they will ever face. She describes this opportunity as “eye-opening” and appreciates the way it further connects her to the community she loves.
