Attorney Information

Overview

Ms. Deliane Quiles was born in Cuba and came to the United States at the age of 17. She attended Florida International University, where she graduated magna cum laude with degrees in international relations and political science. Since she was little, Ms. Quiles knew that she wanted to be a lawyer. However, it was not until she immigrated to the United States and learned about the difficulties that other immigrants had when trying to legalize their immigration status that she realized that she was passionate about immigration law.

Ms. Quiles attended Florida International University School of Law. While attending law school, she participated in the Immigration and Human Rights Clinic led by Attorney Juan Gómez, where she had the great opportunity to represent clients in their removal proceedings and learn a little more about the immigration system of the United States. At the same time, Ms. Quiles participated in several activities led by the Immigration and Human Rights Clinic that were aimed at offering free legal help to immigrants in the community. In her first year of law school, she began working at García & Qayum Law Group as a paralegal, helping many clients obtain positive results in their cases. After her graduation, she joined the G&Q team as a lawyer.

Attorney Quiles is fluent in English and Spanish. She is entirely dedicated to helping immigrants who, like her, left everything they knew behind in search of a better future for themselves and their families.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

  • Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
  • Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
  • Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
  • City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
