Attorney Information
Overview
Michael Weinstock was born in Cleveland, Ohio and lived in California, New York and Ohio throughout his youth. After graduating high school, Michael attended Brooklyn College where he received his bachelors in Physics. Once finished with college, Michael married his wife of over 53 years and joined the U.S. Air Force that took him all over the world, including New York, Ohio, Philippines, Japan, Nevada, California, New Hampshire, Massachusetts and Florida. Michael and his bride welcomed their son several years later. Michael also took advantage of the G.I. Bill and earned his Masters in Physics from the Air Force Institute of Technology and Masters of Management from Central Michigan University. Michael’s last assignment in the military was at Eglin Air Force Base and the family decided to plant roots in the Florida Panhandle. Michael opened several local businesses including a computer store, print shop and marine repair shop.
After retiring as a Major, Michael continued to expand his businesses, however, his childhood dream still echoed loudly in his mind. Michael sold all the businesses to attend the Cumberland School of Law at Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama. Michael interned at one of Birmingham’s powerhouse mining operations, helping their legal department through all issues that arose. After graduating with his Juris Doctorate and passing the Florida Bar exam, Michael was sworn in by the Honorable Pat Maney in 2001 and was immediately hired by a prominent law firm in Fort Walton Beach, where he handled many cases including divorce, child custody, criminal, personal injury and commercial litigation, including co-counseling one of Okaloosa County’s most high profile personal injury cases which resulted in a six-figure settlement after a two-week jury trial.
In 2003, Michael started his own practice in his hometown of over 41 years, Niceville, Florida, helping clients with their family law, probate and criminal legal needs. Michael is not afraid to fight for his clients and has taken hundreds of cases to jury and non-jury trials, including several murder and life imprisonment criminal cases, high net-worth divorce cases and complex civil litigation, personal injury and probate cases.
Michael Weinstock enjoys reading any book he can get his hands on, watching legal, detective and action movies, relaxing by the pool, taking in the opera and symphony, listening to classical music and cruising. Michaels favorite food is corn - his favorite expression is “If God intended people to eat green vegetables, he would have made them yellow and taste like corn!”. Michael is an animal lover and enjoys playing with his cat Fuzzy and dogs, Harley and Rocky.
Michael is excited and passionate about being able to help others with their legal issues while living out his own childhood dream.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
