BAIT & SWITCH MONEY SCAM ALERT!!! ! After I PAID their law firm $3500 I was told that I would not be represented by anyone from the lawfirm in Orlando. The Ocala attorney does not know them. The Ocala attorney was replaced. During a hearing he called my son out in the hall of the courtroom, to sign a plea deal, without an explanation, and while waiting on his name to be called. I politely asked the attorney several times to leave, and he refused. I told him he was fired. He was awful towards my son. I called the police, and he still refused to leave. I tore up the dicument. The Ocala attorney then took my son into the courtroom, where he proceded to illegally represent him. He told the judge and the DA that I tore up the plea deal. My son was later forced to sign a plea deal, at the last minute, with the DA and the judge, after asking so many questions about descrepencies in the OPD report. Do not hire this law firm in Ocala! It's a all BAIT & SWITCH MONEY SCAM!

My son was unconscious in the vehicle with a passenger. A good samaritan called 911. My son was given a DUI. I wanted to hire a firm outside of the Ocala area, with a great reputation. I saw the law firm's ad, stating that they are out of Orlando, Fl. After paying $3500, my son was assigned to an Ocala attorney who refused to speak with him. We had to make several calls to the Orlando office to set up the meeting. Finally, during the breif meeting, the attorney did not ask about the arrest. He only threatened my son with 180 days in jail if he did not accept a plea deal that had not been offered. He admitted that he did not know the Orlando attorney's. The attorney was changed to a Gainesville attorney. We reported that there were descrepencies in the police report, and discovery report. The Gainesville attorney said that it did not matter. While viewing the video with the attorney, I noticed that the EMT was attempting to assist my son. The police escorted my son out of the vehicle, towards a wooded area. The attorney stopped the video and refused to show it further. She then asked to speak with my son, alone. When he refused, she asked him if he was an idiot. She threatened him with the 180 days in jail, and left, upset. I continued to email the law firm about the situation, but I received no response. On 12/2/25 the Gainesville attorney called my son and told him that she would not be in court with him, but the fired attorney would be in court with him to sign the plea agreement. I continued, unsuccessfully, to plead, via email, for a response from the Orlando law firm concerning this situation, I received no response. My son checked the docket and court was at 9 am. When we got there, the fired attorney presented my son with the plea deal. When my son started signing it, I tore it up. The judge extended the court date to 12/16/2025. I finally received a response to my many emails, from the Orlando law firm, stating that they were filing a "Motion Withdraw," in the morning, and that I will not be receiving my $3500. They did not file anything to help my son. Why?

When viewing a listing, consider the state advertising restrictions to which lawyers and law firms must adhere, as well as our FindLaw.com Legal Directory disclaimer. Some lawyers publish comparative information regarding the services that they provide which may be subject to specific comparative communications restrictions.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

  • Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
  • Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
  • Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
  • City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
