Overview

I’m Spiro Verras, founder and principal of Verras Law, P.A. I work with individuals, families and business owners on estate planning, trusts, probate, trust administration, business succession and related asset planning.

When we meet, I want to understand the people you are planning for, the concerns you would like to address and the goals you hope to accomplish. I take time to explain your choices and the purpose of the documents we prepare. My aim is to help you make informed decisions and to remain someone you can turn to as your family or circumstances change.

My approach to service began in my immigrant parents’ restaurant in Tarpon Springs. Taking care of people meant making them feel welcome and giving them more attention than they expected. Those lessons have stayed with me throughout my legal career.

I earned my B.A. from Yale University and my J.D. from Tulane Law School, where I served as managing editor of the Tulane Maritime Law Journal. I have practiced law since 1993 and am licensed in Florida, Louisiana, Texas and New York. I founded Verras Law in September 2003.

Earlier in my career, I was a partner at Jones, Verras & Freiberg in New Orleans. My litigation experience included admiralty cases, class actions and consumer protection matters, including representing consumers in Quigley v. Microsoft. I was also a co-founder and served as chief legal officer of Unthink Corporation, a social media venture. That experience continues to inform the care I bring to planning, including how a document may be read and applied years after it is signed.

After the loss of a loved one, I help personal representatives and trustees work through probate and trust administration with patience and clear explanations. I generally handle guardianship matters for existing clients.

I frequently teach lawyers and paralegals through the National Business Institute and its Institute for Paralegal Education. My presentations address advanced estate planning, probate and trust administration, effective legal writing, legal ethics and professionalism.

Alongside my practice, I am pursuing a Master of Theological Studies at Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology. My Greek Orthodox faith is an important part of my life, and I approach each client’s values and wishes with care and respect.

I serve as a trustee of Saint Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church and National Shrine at the World Trade Center and as a director of the National Hellenic Society, where I also serve on the Governance Committee and as Southeast regional co-chair. I am a member of Leadership 100, which supports the ministries of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America.

Theatre is another longstanding commitment. I am a former board chair of Stageworks Theatre in Tampa and continue to serve on its Advisory Board. In 2025, the Global Conference of Hellenes Abroad honored me with its Greek Immigrant award.

Document preparation is quoted at a flat fee in writing before work begins. Please contact my office for consultation arrangements and fees.

Our Palm Harbor office offers a relaxed setting and a staff committed to understanding each client’s concerns. Consultations are also available by appointment in Tampa and St. Petersburg. Office hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
