Hired Attorney 2019Professional, Streamlined, and Successful Firm Second to None! I had received a ticket while I was in Florida on business on my way back home to Hawaii. I thought it was an impossible ticket to fight being so far from home, but due to the fine amount and circumstances I refused to give up without a fight. I found Unger & Kowitt and had a gut feeling this was the firm to use. They helped with my initial trial I just missed (as I live in Hawaii) and got it re-heard and later put together a case and got it dismissed after a few hearings which went on without hardly any further input from myself. I can not express how grateful that I am for there services and only hope you give them the opportunity to serve you should you ever need such help with defending your case. You can't go wrong with such a compassionate and professional firm as Unger & Kowitt. Mahalo nui loa Kevin!

Hired Attorney 2009-2019I have hired Unger & Kowitt to represent me for traffic violations on several occasions. I have always been very pleased with the results. I recently had 4 violations - 3 of which were serious infractions, and Kevin Unger appeared before the judge on my behalf and had all 4 dismissed. I highly recommend Unger & Kowitt for any traffic citation related needs.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
