As a BOARD CERTIFIED CRIMINAL TRIAL LAWYER, Mr. Mydock passed a written examination, peer and judicial review, practiced criminal law for over 5 years, completed advanced continuing legal education courses, and completed a minimum of 25 criminal trials to verdict. Mr. Mydock was initially certified by The Florida Bar from 2017-2022, and then was re-certified as an expert from 2022-2027. Overall, his experience spans more than a decade on both sides of the courtroom as a prosecutor and defense attorney in North Florida.

Mr. Mydock is rated "AV PREEMINENT" BY MARTINDALE-HUBBELL. This is the highest peer rating standard. Mr. Mydock is a former ASSISTANT STATE ATTORNEY, SEVENTH JUDICIAL CIRCUIT (SAINT JOHNS, VOLUSIA, FLAGLER, AND PUTNAM COUNTIES). For more than 5 years, he prosecuted criminal offenses from misdemeanor to felony. He served in the DUI and Domestic Violence divisions, as well as the Drug Unit Prosecutor in Saint Johns County. Additionally, he aided the Homicide Investigation Unit at trial in multiple murder cases. In 2015, State Attorney R.J. Larizza awarded Mr. Mydock the "TOP GUN" TRIAL AWARD.

Mr. Mydock is currently the Chairman of the JUDICIAL NOMINATING COMMISSION, SEVENTH JUDICIAL CIRCUIT. He was first recommended by The Florida Bar, and then appointed by Governor Ron DeSantis to this position in 2019. In 2020, he was re-nominated by The Florida Bar and re-appointed by Governor DeSantis to the 7th Circuit JNC for a four year term. As a Commissioner, I am responsible for the vetting, interview, and nomination of applicants for judicial vacancies occurring in Saint Johns, Volusia, Flagler, and Putnam counties.
