Christian Van Riper is a seasoned Florida trial attorney who brings exceptional experience, accessibility, and compassion to every case. He focuses his practice on criminal defense, DUI defense, family law, and dependency law, representing clients throughout the Treasure Coast and South Florida. Christian’s background as both a former Florida Prosecutor and a former investigator with the Department of Children and Families (DCF) gives him unique insight into the courtroom, law enforcement procedures, and the human side of the cases he handles.
As a Prosecutor, Christian litigated hundreds of criminal cases for the State of Florida and was quickly promoted from the misdemeanor to the felony division in under seven months—a testament to his skill and tenacity in the courtroom. He has successfully argued motions and appeals and has tried numerous jury and non-jury cases involving charges ranging from DUI, BUI (boating under the influence), drug offenses, and domestic violence to grand theft, arson, robbery, battery, and attempted murder. His ability to see cases from both sides makes him an effective and strategic advocate for those accused of crimes.
Before his time as a Prosecutor, Christian served as an intern for the Supreme Court of Florida, where he worked directly with the justices, analyzing petitions and advising on complex legal issues in both civil and criminal matters. Earlier still, as a DCF investigator, Christian handled child abuse and neglect cases, developing a deep understanding of family dynamics and the child welfare system. That investigative experience now serves him well in both family and dependency law cases, where protecting clients’ children and families is his top priority.
Known for his accessibility and dedication, Christian ensures that every client has his personal cell phone number, reflecting his belief that strong communication and trust are essential to effective representation.
