Amy Ruiz is a seasoned attorney with a diverse legal career, specializing in criminal defense, traffic law, and personal injury cases. She is the founder of Amy Ruiz Law, PL, and is dedicated to providing exceptional legal representation to clients in the Tampa Bay area.

Amy holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a focus on Marketing and International Economics from the University of Florida (2000) and a Juris Doctorate from the Florida State College of Law (2004). While at Florida State, she was a member of the Journal of Transnational Law & Policy and participated in the Institute on World Legal Problems in Austria, where she studied Comparative Constitutional Law under U.S. Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia.

After earning her law degree, Amy returned to Tampa and began her legal career as an Assistant Public Defender for the Thirteenth Judicial Circuit (2004–2006), handling motions, hearings, and trials. She then transitioned to a role as an Assistant State Attorney (2006–2011), where she successfully litigated a wide range of cases, from misdemeanors to serious felonies.

In 2011, Amy broadened her legal experience by joining a firm specializing in insurance defense, where she worked on high-profile cases, including the Chinese Drywall Multi-District Litigation. In 2012, she founded her own firm, Amy Ruiz Law, where she has since built a reputation for her compassionate yet aggressive approach to criminal defense and personal injury law.

Amy is actively involved in the local legal community. She is a board member and immediate past president of the Tampa Hispanic Bar Association and is a member of the Tampa Bay Inn of Court. She has also served as a Special Magistrate for the City of Tampa and as Secretary of the Traffic Rules Committee.

Among her many honors, Amy was awarded the 2024 Sheriff’s Hispanic Advisory Council’s Raymond E. Fernandez Award, recognizing her significant contributions to the criminal justice system in Hillsborough County.

Licensed to practice in both state and federal courts in Florida, Amy is committed to upholding justice and advocating for her clients with integrity and dedication. Her results-driven solutions have established her as a trusted advocate in her areas of practice.
