Attorney Information

Overview

Chelsea M. Nowel is an attorney and owner of Dubrule & Nowel, PLLC. Chelsea was raised in Canada, France, and the US. She received her Honors Bachelor of Arts from the University of Toronto, Trinity College and received her law degree from Cleveland-Marshall College of Law where she graduated Cum Laude. Chelsea is trilingual, fluent in English, Spanish, and French.

Chelsea started her career resettling refugees in Cleveland, Ohio. Although she enjoyed the clients, she was frustrated that she could not provide long-lasting solutions to their legal problems. It was at that time that Chelsea realized her desire to practice Immigration and Nationality law.

After years in a big immigration firm, Chelsea decided to open her own firm, CMN Law, LLC in order to continue her fierce advocacy for intending immigrants to the United States. After meeting John, she felt that a merging of the two firms was the best way to expand her service to immigrants in her community and beyond.

Chelsea is barred in Ohio and is a member of AILA. She serves on the board of AILA Central Florida as the Tampa Bay Regional Vice Chair and is chair of the New Members Committee. She was also a distinguished speaker at:

  • the 2023 AILA National Conference in Orlando, Florida;
  • the 2022 AILA Central Florida Immigration Law Conference in Clearwater, Florida;
  • the 2019 AILA Central Florida Immigration Law Conference in St. Petersburg, Florida; and
  • the 2019 NAFSA Region VII Conference in Orlando, Florida.

Chelsea moved to Tampa Bay in 2016 and lives with her husband William and their twin children, Fiona and Michael.

When viewing a listing, consider the state advertising restrictions to which lawyers and law firms must adhere, as well as our FindLaw.com Legal Directory disclaimer. Some lawyers publish comparative information regarding the services that they provide which may be subject to specific comparative communications restrictions.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

  • Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
  • Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
  • Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
  • City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
