Attorney Information

Overview

E. Tim Karkatselos is the managing partner at Karkatselos Law, a Tampa Bay based law firm, where he focuses on representing residential and commercial property owners with insurance claims. He has been recognized by the National Trial Lawyers organization as one of Florida’s Top 40 Under 40 Civil Plaintiff Trial Lawyers.

Tim began his career as a Miami Prosecutor where he gained a wealth of trial and litigation experience. Tim then spent several years defending insurance companies, getting to know their inner workings. This knowledge allows him to effectively represent homeowners and contractors when dealing with insurance companies in property claim disputes.

Prior to becoming an Attorney, Tim played professional baseball and for the Greek National Baseball Team in the 2010 European Championship, 2011 World Cup, and 2012 European Championship. He uses the same aggressive approach he once used as a pitcher facing down batters, when it comes to advocating on behalf of his clients confronting insurance companies.

Tim is an honors graduate of St. Thomas University School of Law in Miami, Florida. Prior to that, he obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Eckerd College in St. Peterburg, Florida. He is fluent in Greek and Spanish and in his spare time enjoys taking part in local community events.

When viewing a listing, consider the state advertising restrictions to which lawyers and law firms must adhere, as well as our FindLaw.com Legal Directory disclaimer. Some lawyers publish comparative information regarding the services that they provide which may be subject to specific comparative communications restrictions.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

  • Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
  • Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
  • Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
  • City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
