John Castro - Tampa, FL

John S. Castro graduated cum laude with a B.S. in psychology from Florida State University in 2001. He earned a J.D. from the University of Florida’s Levin College of Law in 2004. While at FSU, he worked as a substitute teacher for Leon County Schools. In law school, Mr. Castro excelled inside and outside of the classroom. Mr. Castro was an active member of the John Marshall Bar Association and a volunteer at the University of Florida’s student legal services. Prior to completing law school, he spent a semester studying abroad in Montpellier, France.

Mr. Castro began his legal career with Bell, Leeper, & Roper, P.A. in Orlando, where he represented litigants in both state and Federal Court on matters of civil liability, personal injury, insurance defense, and wrongful death. He then returned to Tampa, where he accepted a position with the State Attorney’s Office for the Thirteenth Judicial Circuit. In this capacity, he quickly rose through the ranks of the juvenile, misdemeanor, and felony divisions, bypassing several lawyers with longer tenure. As a prosecutor, Mr. Castro litigated over 300 trials, hearings, and motions.

In 2008, Mr. Castro joined former Thirteenth Judicial Circuit chief prosecutor Robin Fuson in his law practice, where he represented clients on matters of criminal defense and personal injury. His litigation skills quickly gained him the respect of colleagues and opposition council alike, who described him as a knowledgeable, persuasive, and skilled litigator. He received many letters of appreciation from clients expressing gratitude for his dedication, kindness and attention to detail in handling their cases.

In 2010, Mr. Castro joined family law attorney Christina Anton Garcia to form the Anton Castro Law group. His expertise in criminal law, personal injury, and litigation represents major contributions to the firm. Together, Mr. Castro and Ms. Anton are committed to making exemplary client service and excellence in the practice of law their top priority in matters of criminal defense, personal injury, and family law.

Mr. Castro and his family have been an active part of the Tampa Bay community since 1991. Mr. Castro is a member of the board of directors for the First Tee of Tampa Bay, a non-profit organization aimed at teaching youth positive life skills and lessons through the game of golf. Additionally, Mr. Castro volunteers with the United Way’s program Hands on Tampa. He is an avid outdoorsman and loves spending time with his dog, Hank.

Mr. Castro is licensed to practice law in all Florida state and county courts and for federal matters in the United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida.
