    Hired Attorney 2024
They have a client sitting in Lake County jail waiting for a bed in a rehab facility since November 25th 2024 her application was completed on the 25th of November 2024, The facility had a bed available and the application sat on a desk in his office until Jan 9th 2025 when asked about the application the excuse was because of the holidays it must have been not seen. We were told that the application would be sent out the next day. As of Jan 28,2025 the facility Hand in hand is still unable to reach the public defenders office for a mere video visit and the woman has been in jail for 3 more months! And by the way she has been in jail since October 3rd as a first time offender and has 2 Children! She made many calls and emails to the office of the public defender and was ignored. Total unprofessional Conduct. I will be filing a complaint to the Florida Bar against Lee Levinston Jr. who apparently never follows up on his cases

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

  • Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
  • Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
  • Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
  • City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
