Hired Attorney 2004-2019I was referred to Mr.Mead by a close friend after making a appointment i went to his office off of Lee road a stand alone building not a office building which i liked told the receptionist who i was and took a seat she was very nice and told me that Vic : I have come to call him : would be with me in a moment 20 30 minutes and he came out and shook my hand warm handshake he,s a tall man about 6.6 or so over the years since i met him Vic has taken care of 3 or 4 cases for me to my satisfaction I would say that he is a down to earth person straightforward tell it like it is not what you would like to hear if you ask him for something that can't be done he will tell you there's no way in hell that's going to happen I know because I asked lol . He knows his way around the courthouse he's been in and out of there for like 30 years or something like that he met me there and i watched him walking down the hall and the other attorneys all knew him hi Vic Hi Vic hi Vic i guess that i'm trying to say that he is comfortable in his surroundings .i'm going to wrap this up by saying that i like to call Vic my attorney but its more like hes a friend hope this helps .... How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
