Hired Law firm 202511 Months, $8,000, and a Case That Was Never Properly Handled Update: (Be aware that a number of bad reviews are removed unless you keep reposting.) In response to the office’s public statement, we want to be clear that this review reflects our firsthand experience over an 11-month period and is based on direct interactions, communications, and case updates, which we stand by. ——— If you have a loved one in immigration detention, read this before choosing this office. I’m not someone who typically writes reviews, but felt this needed to be shared given the impact on our family. My uncle, the head of his household and sole provider for his stay-at-home wife and three very young children, was detained in June 2025. We paid approximately $8,000, and after 11 months, the case was never properly followed through or resolved. Attorney Kamala Sessoms provided extremely poor communication—missed calls, no follow-ups, and we repeatedly had to chase her for basic updates. She met with my uncle only once (July 2025), and after that there were no meaningful updates. The saddest part was that she did not even know my uncle had already been deported back to Vietnam, which further confirmed for our family that she was not adequately involved in his case like she claimed she was. Even ICE updates were only learned through our uncle, not her. She also gave incorrect information, stating his stay of removal was approved when it was not, and at times appeared to side with ICE while falsely claiming my uncle refused to meet with her. When concerns were raised, her tone was dismissive and defensive. Despite knowing we had already spent significant money, she continued pushing a habeas petition, which felt more like a financial push than legal guidance. After speaking with other attorneys, the difference in professionalism and urgency was clear. We would not recommend this office—families in these situations deserve honesty, follow-through, and real advocacy, which we did not receive.

Hired Law firm 2025***Update: It appears my original review was removed and also seems like she paid for multiple new reviews in the span of 3 days. Half of those reviews are her own employees by the way. Once again just caring for her image and not her clients. Attorney Sessoms did not even know where in the process my uncle was in terms of getting travel documentation. Also, the most sad part was that she did not even know my uncle had already been deported back to Vietnam, which further confirmed for my family that she was not adequately involved in his case like she claimed she was She even tried to call me to once again defend herself and now accuse me of lying. My uncle gave me permission to share this review. If you have a loved one in detention, do not come to this office. My uncle was detained in June 2025, and our experience with Attorney Kamala Sessoms was unacceptable from start to finish. Not once did she ask how my uncle was doing. Communication was consistently poor—missed calls, no follow-ups, and I often had to chase her down just to get basic information. It took multiple attempts before she even met with my uncle, and that only happened once back in July 2025. Now, it’s been 11 months later .Most of the time, the only update we received was, “I emailed them multiple times,” with no meaningful follow-through. What was most alarming was her lack of advocacy. At times, she appeared to side with ICE and even accused my uncle of not wanting to meet with her — which was completely false. Instead of supporting her client, she shifted blame, which is deeply concerning in a case like this. She also gave me false information that my uncle stay of removal was approved when it was clearly not. Her tone throughout the process was dismissive, condescending, and outright rude. When I raised concerns about the lack of communication and accountability, she became defensive rather than addressing the issue. She only cared for herself and image. Despite clearly telling her multiple times that I could not afford additional legal fees after already spending a significant amount, she continued to push filing a habeas petition. It felt more like a financial push than genuine legal guidance. After speaking with other attorneys, the difference in professionalism, responsiveness, and basic respect was obvious. This experience left my family feeling disrespected, unsupported, and taken advantage of during an already stressful and emotional time. I would not recommend this office to anyone dealing with something as serious as immigration detention. I hope this feedback encourages serious reflection on her behavior and actions on professionalism, communication, and client care. If it was her loved one, I know she would not want someone to treat her and her family like the way she treated my family and most importantly my uncle . Do not open an immigration office or hence be a lawyer if you do not genuinely care for people and their families.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
