Overview
David Hungeling has over 25 years’ experience as a trial lawyer with a focus on complex litigation in state and federal court, including bankruptcy adversary proceedings. Mr. Hungeling began his legal career as an associate in the Securities Litigation Group at Alston & Bird, LLP in Atlanta. In 2003, he left big law to found his own firm, specializing in trial and appellate work. Mr. Hungeling received his J.D., magna cum laude, in 2000 from Georgia State University College of Law, where he was Managing Editor of the Georgia State University Law Review during the 1999-2000 school year. He received his B.A. in 1995 from the University of Notre Dame, where he served as student body president, and then went on to receive his M.A. in 1997 from the University of Portland. During law school, Mr. Hungeling was a law clerk for Justice Hugh Thompson of the Georgia Supreme Court and Stephen H. DeBaun, Special Administrative Law Judge. Before attending law school, he was a volunteer for two years in the Alliance for Catholic Education, which is part of the Americorp Program. As an ACE volunteer Mr. Hungeling served as a high school social studies teacher in Jackson, Mississippi. In addition to practicing law, Mr. Hungeling has been an adjunct faculty member at Georgia State University College of Law since 2016, where he teaches trial advocacy. He has served as a standard-of-care expert witness in legal malpractice cases and an expert witness in attorney’s fee disputes. He also serves on numerous civic and charitable boards and is a volunteer for area schools and the Catholic Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in downtown Atlanta.
