Jonathan R. Williamson holds both a J.D. and LL.M. in Taxation from the University of Florida Levin College of Law. During law school, he was the Executive Notes Editor of the Florida Journal of Law and Public Policy and earned the CALI Excellence for the Future Book Awards in Pre-Trial Practice and Marijuana Law and Policy.
He advises both businesses and individuals in audits, tax litigation, and tax relief. He handles IRS disputes, administrative hearings, and litigation before the United States Tax Court, United States District Courts, and the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals. His expertise in taxation includes conservation easement and syndicated conservation easement litigation (Section 170(h)), captive insurance (Section 831(b)), cannabis and marijuana (Section 280E), and Employee Shared Responsibility Credits (Section 4980H). His experience also includes valuation of real property (charitable contributions and condemnation), estate valuations, and business valuations.
During law school, he served as a law clerk in the Office of General Counsel at the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. Prior to joining forces with Bomar Law Firm, he was an associate attorney in a law firm known for its expertise in tax controversy and litigation. During that time, he worked particularly on the Tax Court and Eleventh Circuit litigation in JL Minerals v. Commissioner and Jackson Crossroads v. Commissioner.
