Attorney Information
Overview
Mrs. Simmons is an equity partner in Morgan & Morgan's Atlanta office. She is dedicated to representing individuals who have been injured due to the negligence of others and holding wrongdoers accountable for their actions. She believes the most important thing a lawyer can do is fight injustice.
Mrs. Simmons has tried over 30 personal injury jury trials in 11 different counties within the State of Georgia. She focuses her trial practice on motor vehicle, trucking, and premises liability cases. In the last five years, she has recovered over $40 million in combined settlements and verdicts for her clients and their families. A number of her cases have garnered significant media coverage, including her work representing two young brothers, one of whom was killed and the other severely injured when a man drove high on heroin and mowed them down in his car. She also won a seven-figure settlement for a high school athlete who suffered severe injuries in a trucking accident. Mrs. Simmons has a long history of fighting-and winning-cases on behalf of injured children.
Mrs. Simmons assists in the management, training, and mentorship of lawyers within her office and early in her career, at Georgia State University College of Law, by coaching mock trial for the law school. Currently, she is an executive officer for the Georgia Trial Lawyers Association and board member of Georgia's Civil Justice PAC. Through her involvement with the trial bar and the State Bar, she often speaks at educational seminars and conferences on topics ranging from leadership and management to trial strategy and complex motions and evidentiary practice.
Mrs. Simmons is from Southern California and graduated with a Journalism degree from the University of Oklahoma. While in college, she was a news anchor for the University of Oklahoma's daily newscast and an intern for the Oklahoma State Senate. Mrs. Simmons received her Juris Doctorate from Georgia State University College of Law where she was Vice President of the Student Trial Lawyers Association and Pro Bono Editor for GSU Law's student newspaper. She competed as a student advocate in mock trial competitions in Georgia, Illinois, and Kentucky, and represented GSU Law in the American Bar Association Arbitration competition, where her team won the national title. Prior to joining Morgan & Morgan, Mrs. Simmons clerked for an insurance defense firm and the U.S. Department of Labor Office of the Solicitor.
Equally important as Mrs. Simmons' dedication to trial work is her passion for giving back to the community. She is proud to serve as commissioner for the City of Brookhaven's planning commission. She and her husband, along with their baby, Parker, are heavily involved in Brookhaven events and enjoy giving back through volunteerism and charitable causes. Mrs. Simmons truly believes that helping others is her professional and spiritual calling, and she is proud to call herself a trial lawyer "for the people."
