Attorney Information
Overview
Michael F. Williford is a dedicated trial attorney licensed in Georgia who is committed to helping individuals and families navigate some of life’s most difficult circumstances. Driven by a belief that negligent parties should be held accountable for the harm they cause, he focuses on representing clients in catastrophic injury, wrongful death, and product liability cases.
Michael earned his undergraduate degree in Sociology from Emory University before obtaining his law degree from Georgia State University College of Law. His educational background provides a strong foundation for understanding the human impact behind every legal case and reinforces his commitment to serving clients with empathy, determination, and respect.
Throughout his career, Michael has handled complex and high-stakes cases that have had a meaningful impact on both his clients and the broader legal landscape. Among his proudest accomplishments is representing a soldier who suffered a severe traumatic brain injury in a suicide bombing at Bagram Airfield. The case ultimately reached the Supreme Court of the United States, where the law regarding defense contractor liability was changed to better protect individuals injured by a contractor’s negligence.
Michael also takes pride in achieving exceptional results for clients whose injuries may be underestimated. In one notable dog bite case, he secured a substantial recovery for a client despite relatively limited medical expenses, demonstrating his commitment to pursuing the full value of every claim.
One of the most rewarding experiences of his career came through his work with the Georgia Innocence Project and an Atlanta law firm, helping secure the release of a man who had spent more than two decades in prison after being wrongfully convicted of murder. The case reinforced his belief in perseverance and the importance of fighting tirelessly for justice, even when the odds seem overwhelming.
A member of the Georgia Trial Lawyers Association, Michael believes perseverance is one of the most important ingredients for success in both life and the practice of law. His greatest hope is to continue helping clients find accountability, closure, and justice while making a meaningful difference in their lives.
Raised in Griffin, Georgia, Michael grew up in a close-knit family where sports, community, and hard work played a central role. His father, a military veteran and longtime public servant, was his greatest influence and taught him the values of dedication, family, and service to others. Those lessons continue to guide both his personal and professional life.
Outside of the office, Michael enjoys scuba diving, reading, and traveling, particularly to destinations throughout Africa. He is also an avid learner who hopes to earn his pilot’s license and one day spend extended time living in Africa or Belize.
As a father, Michael considers parenthood one of the greatest blessings of his life. It has strengthened his appreciation for family, responsibility, and the importance of protecting what matters most. He also considers finding a close circle of lifelong friends to be one of life’s greatest gifts, providing unwavering support, loyalty, and encouragement through every stage of life.
For Michael, the practice of law is ultimately about people. Whether helping someone seek accountability, find closure, or move forward after a difficult experience, he remains committed to listening, understanding, and advocating for those who place their trust in him.
