Overview

Gregory H. Kinnamon was born in Dalton, Whitfield County, Georgia in 1958 and has lived in the Dalton area all of his life. Mr. Kinnamon graduated high school from Northwest Whitfield High School as part of the School's first graduating class in 1976.

He graduated from the University of Georgia with an A.B. degree in Political Science in 1980 and received his Juris Doctor degree from Mercer University, Walter F. George School of Law cum laude in 1984. While at Mercer Law School Mr. Kinnamon received American Jurisprudence Awards in the areas of Criminal Law, Commercial Paper and Business Associations. Mr. Kinnamon was admitted to practice law in Georgia in 1984.

He is a member of the State Bar of Georgia and a member of the Conasauga Circuit Bar Association. Mr. Kinnamon has practiced before various Probate, Magistrate, Superior and State Courts as well as Federal Court, Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals, State of Georgia Court of Appeals, Georgia Supreme Court and the United States Supreme Court.

Mr. Kinnamon served two terms in the Georgia House of Representatives from 1992-1997 where he served as Secretary of Governmental Affairs, Chairman of the Elections subcommittee, Industrial Relations, Chairman of the Worker's Compensation subcommittee, and on the prestigious Judiciary Committee.

Mr. Kinnamon served as counsel for the Carpet Capital Association of Realtors from 1992-2012. Mr. Kinnamon has served as Murray County's attorney since 2000. Mr. Kinnamon has served as former Director/Organizer of Premier National Bank of Dalton, former Director of Dalton-Whitfield Bank, former Board member of Whitfield Education Foundation, former Board Trustee of Dalton College Foundation, former Advisory Board member of First National Community Bank, formerly known as the First National Bank of Chatsworth, former Executive Committee member of Dalton-Whitfield Chamber of Commerce, Past President of Cherokee Area Estate Planning, Past President of the local chapter of the Georgia Bulldog Club, Past President of Dalton Golf and Country Club. Mr. Kinnamon previously served on the Board of the Humane Society of Northwest Georgia. He also previously served as Trustee of the Whitfield Healthcare Foundation.
