Attorney Information
Overview
Jason Karasik is a Partner with Meriwether & Tharp, LLC. Jason has also been managing Meriwether & Tharp's marketing department since 2014. Jason obtained his undergraduate degree from the University of Georgia in 2008. After graduating from the University of Georgia, he began work as a policy fellow for Georgia Governor Sonny Perdue. Jason worked with the House Education Committee and the Senate Education and Youth Committee while doing education policy research. Additionally, he worked closely with the Governor's Policy Director in providing solutions for Georgia's education issues.
Jason obtained his law degree from the University of Michigan Law School. While in law school, he received the Dean's Scholarship and was an Executive Editor of the Michigan Journal of Race & Law. After his first year of law school, Jason worked for three different Federal Judges in the United States District Court, Middle District of Florida. Jason's experience in Federal Court afforded him an insider's look at what it takes to succeed in trial proceedings. After his second year of law school, he worked for a large firm doing mostly commercial litigation work. During law school, Jason quickly developed a significant interest in family law while working in the University of Michigan's Child Advocacy Law Clinic (CALC). Here, he provided legal assistance to people going through difficult times in their lives and truly enjoyed helping his clients achieve a positive outcome. In CALC, Jason represented abused and abandoned children as a Lawyer Guardian Ad Litem. His job was to determine what was in the best interests of the child and advocate for their interests in court. Jason also represented parents in custody disputes, and he acted as of counsel for the prosecutor in child welfare cases.
On a personal level, Jason enjoys spending time with his wife while fly fishing on the Chattahoochee River and in the North Georgia Mountains. He also enjoys cooking, golf, college football and automotive repair and restoration.
