Attorney Information

Overview

From their office in Macon, Georgia, Joseph E. Williams Jr. PC works with clients facing estate planning, personal injury and family law issues throughout Bibb County. Though the details of cases differ drastically, at the heart of each is someone who needs guidance. Mr. Williams has been practicing for over 40 years, advising people of how to meet their goals while working within the boundaries of the law.

We lead with compassion, whether the focus is on creating a will, going through probate or dividing property following a divorce. Past clients have been thankful for our sensitivity to their personal issues and ability to achieve results. For example, we recovered $300,000 in a case in which a car accident left a person with a broken jaw. In another situation, we guided a family through the adoption process, taking the stress off them as they welcomed a little girl into their home.

At Joseph E. Williams Jr. PC, we accept credit cards and work with clients to determine which approach best resolves their issues. If we cannot reach a settlement or otherwise find a solution outside the courtroom, the team at our law office is prepared to pursue litigation.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

  • Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
  • Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
  • Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
  • City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
