Attorney Information
Overview
Robert A. B. Reichert is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert P. Reichert, Sr., and was born in Macon. After completing his studies at Stratford Academy in 1966, he spent roughly two years at the University of Georgia before serving in the United States Army.
He was a helicopter pilot for the 1st Air Cavalry Division in Vietnam in 1970–1971. He served in the military for 20 years, rising to the rank of Chief Warrant Officer while stationed at Fort Hood (Texas).
After serving his country, Mr. Reichert moved back to Macon and enrolled at the University of Georgia, from which he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture in 1978. After that, he went on to law school at Mercer University's Walter F. George School of Law, where he interned in the Fall of his last year in Senator Sam Nunn's legislative section in Washington. In 1981, after finishing law school, Robert became an associate attorney with the law office of Anderson, Walker & Reichert. In 1985, he was made a partner and focused on civil litigation. He has been honored as a Fellow by both the American Bar Foundation and the Lawyers Foundation of Georgia, and he holds membership in both the Georgia and American Bar Associations.
In 1987, Mr. Reichert ran for and was elected to a seat on the Macon City Council. From 1992 to the end of the 2002 legislative session, he served as the representative for northwest Macon and Bibb County in the Georgia House of Representatives, District 126. In 2002, he decided not to seek re-election and instead go back to practicing law full-time. Mr. Reichert was first elected Mayor of Macon in 2007, and then, after that city's government merged with that of neighboring Bibb County, he was elected Mayor of Macon-Bibb County. On December 31, 2020, his time as Mayor officially ended.
Returning to Anderson, Walker & Reichert, LLP, on an "Of Counsel" basis as of February 1, 2021, Mr. Reichert focuses his practice on business law, economic and community development, and government relations. Both of Robert and Dele's grown children as well as a number of their grandchildren live in Macon. They attend Vineville United Methodist Church in Macon.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
